From the meeting
“9:52 All right. For a quick update on the AMI project, um we are working on the opt-out language. uh that is uh kind of gone back and forth on how that's going to look uh based on the meter types that are that are uh allowed to be used. So, we're still working through that. Um, of course, we have the uh customer service software update that we're currently doing. So, we're not going to start the AMI project until that's in place. That's about a year out. Um but we are we are meeting still with the AMI folks and and working towards getting the scope for the RFP developed. Um so we are we are moving forward but um it there's there's not the very big push to get it out right now since we're waiting on the uh customer service software.”
What happened
The Independence MO Public Utility Advisory Board is currently developing the scope for an RFP related to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. However, progress on this project is contingent upon the completion of a customer service software update, which is expected to take about a year. This delay indicates that while the AMI project is in the planning stages, it will not advance to the solicitation phase until the software update is finalized.
During the recent board meeting, officials discussed the ongoing work on opt-out language for the AMI project, emphasizing that they are still coordinating with stakeholders to finalize the RFP scope. The absence of immediate urgency to release the RFP suggests that potential vendors should prepare for a future procurement opportunity but may have some time before formal solicitations are issued.
The meeting excerpt highlights the current status:
